It's inevitable, if you surf, you will get wax on your bikini. We want you to get as much life out of your Surf Worthy wears as possible, so here's our fool-proof guide for getting it off and keeping your bikini goooood looking!
(WHAT NOT TO DO: If you've Googled and read about the iron method, don't try this. Put that boiling hot steaming hunk of iron down, step away from your nylon-lycra-mix bikini.)
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Coconut oil
- Water from the tap
- Some elbow grease
... that's it.
NOTE: Please don't go out and buy organic food grade cold-pressed-by-elves-in-a-forest coconut oil! Surf wax is oil based, so a good thick clean oil is key to releasing it from the fabric, any cheap 100% coconut oil will do. Over time, we're also going to experiment with other oils to see if they work just as well. We'll report back!
Get your dirty dirty bikini.
Pour on a little bit of the coconut oil.
Add some water, a little at a time while you LIGHTLY rub the waxy material in the fashion of hand washing clothes. (careful with the seams!)
Then add more coconut oil or water as necessary.
Make sure when you think the wax has been cleaned off, to wash out the oil thoroughly from the bikini. Maybe use a washing detergent for this.
Leave it out to dry naturally in the beautiful hot hot sun.
Marvel at your shiny clean wax-free bikini! Now go get it dirty again...
