We're not into faceless factories. 

 

We've met the skilled adult workers who make our collections, and spent time in the workshop getting to know our project manager who looks after quality control. A healthy, happy working environment, and the welfare of everyone in our supply chain is incredibly important to us. Look after your people, and your people will look after you!

The great relationship we've built with our factory project manager means we can confidently tell you that our sewers are paid above minimum wage for the Indonesian province of Bali, and on top of this they are also provided with a small daily allowance for lunch. Through our research to ensure our supply chain is healthy, we've discovered that that monthly salaries in Indonesia are regulated by province, (Bali, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, etc.), rather than one minimum rate set for the country as a whole. Indonesia is made up of so many huge and diverse territories, so this is why we benchmark our factory salaries against the minimum wage specific to Bali and make sure our factory pays above that.

I also researched how much a 'living wage' should be for Indonesia to cover the basics (nothing to do with Government who make up the minimum wages amount)

It includes : food, water, electricity, transport, tax, health, education, and extras.

 From these calculations of 'living wage' estimates, we could see that our sewers were receiving more than a 'typical family living wage' from their calculation tables. Yay!

Of course there is always room for improvement with ethical manufacturing. But it is a good,clean start, and a step in the righteous direction. :)
